Recognition Will Boost Our Social Investment Drive – NIPCO MD
The spate of recognition of NIPCO’s efforts in the hydrocarbon industry by stakeholders especially by host communities will spur the company in its social investment programmes.
Responding to the presentation of award by Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, Apapa LGEA and Head Teachers of the two adopted schools in the state, Managing Director, NIPCO Plc, Mr Sanjay Teotia said the recognition would compel the company to improve lives of its immediate environment.
The team which came to present commendation plaques to NIPCO was led by the Education Secretary, Apapa LGEA, Mrs. Fausat Olawepo also has in attendance the Head Teacher of Apapa Nursery & Primary School, Comrade Olayinka ….. and Head Teacher of Ijora Oloye Nursery & Primary School, Mrs. Fakeye F O “We see CSR as not only avenue for business to behave ethically but also to contribute to economic development by improving the quality of life and the workforce as well as local community and society at large” the MD declared.
Mr Sanjay who expressed delight with the appreciation of the company’s modest support to education and sports in the organization host communities stressed that the company sees such investment as a culture and philosophy of our business.
He explained that the recognition are not to him nor the management, it is to the company and its promoters who mooted the idea of floating the organization through whom the social investment flows from.
According to him ,NIPCO has turned down plethora of awards this year but we did not turn these down it is in the realms of education and sports especially at the foundation stage of career development.

He said that in the New Year conscious efforts would be made to make more impact s not only in our immediate environment but the society at large in line with our corporate philosophy.
Mr ‘Sanjay recalled aside from the host communities NIPCO has embarked on CSR interventions in the areas of free eye care surgery ,donations to Internally Displaced persons [IDPs] ,inauguration of boreholes etc &.
Earlier the leader of the team, Mrs. Olawepo was to present plaques to appreciate the support of the company over the years stressing that the organization support has being wonderful adding that “each time we beckons to you for assistance the response has always being positive”.,
She said they look forward to more beneficial relationship in years to come stressing that NIPCO has shown tremendous respect to the community they operates and the society at large.
The Education Secretary recalled that the company refurbished a block of four classrooms and toilet facilities at Apapa Nursery & Primary School as well as procurement of school furniture and sports equipments for Nursery section of Ijora Oloye Primary School.
She also highlighted the recent sponsorship of inter house sports of some schools in the LGA and merit award ceremony for pupils and teachers in Apapa local government area of Lagos state
