Depot Division

The existing NIPCO site of about 9.5 hectares was acquired due to strategic nature to access Apapa Oil Jetties (AOJ- 3 Nos.) which supplies about 50% of the Nation’s fuel requirements. An ultra modern petroleum storage terminal with an initial capacity of 45 Million litres was built to cater to the market demand. The terminal has been linked with dedicated pipelines from all three Apapa Jetties.

The Terminal has unique pipeline facilities to receive PMS, AGO and DPK simultaneously from all the three Jetties. The entire terminal is fully protected with state of the art fire fighting systems and CCTV surveillance system.

The receipts/dispatch of products are being monitored in a fully automated Central Control Room (CCR) which is of international standard. The distribution is facilitated through a 10 Nos. fully automated loading gantry which has the ability to dispense 12 Million litres of Petroleum products per day.

DEPOT-DIVISION-1

This is the only terminal to have an in-built truck parking facility within the complex for more than 200 trucks with a drivers canteen and toilet facilities. Our petroleum product throughput has steadily grown from 0.8 MTPA to 1.6 MTPA (1.9 Billion litres).

Recently, NIPCO commissioned 3 new storage tanks in the month of December, 2015 to increase and upgrade the storage facility by an additional 30 Million litres to improve the operational efficiency . Presently the storage capacity of the terminal stands at 76 Million litres.

The Control Room

The entire terminal is fully automated and is designed and constructed in a manner as to have minimum human intervention. The flow process incorporating the discharge from vessel into the storage tanks, loading of the tankers (which are done concurrently), the weight and measure of the volume disposed are controlled by a network of flow meters. Radar Gauges, Batch Controllers, Control Valves, and Motor Operated Values, with the aid of an Advanced PLC based computer systems.

Further more, a series of close circuit television cameras have been installed at strategic locations within the terminal premises, which can be monitored from the control room to assist in monitoring operations, safety and security of the entire facility along with the personnel present in the premises at any point in time.

Quality Control

The ultra-modern laboratory has facilities for the analysis of all parameters such as Flash Point, Density, Temperature, Viscosity, etc, to guarantee safety. The highly skilled personnel manning the lab conduct pre-discharge tests on products to ensure that they confirm to the approved standard from NNPC/DPR.

A separate sample room has been provided where all the retention samples are kept for a period of three months.

The Terminal

The strategic nature of Apapa, Lagos in the downstream sector of the Oil and Gas business accounted for building of our depot at Dockyard, Apapa, Lagos, Nigeria. The location of storage facility is unique as it has direct access to the jetties. With all modesty, terminal remains closest and most easily accessible to the government jetty at Apapa; namely PWA, NOJ, BOP, OANDO-ASPM and Waziri NPA Jetty..

The ultra-modern fully automated fuel terminal has facilities that can store 76 Million liters of petroleum products in the pursuit of meeting the goals of ensuring uninterrupted supply of petroleum products to their members; having stations across the nooks and crannies of Nigeria.

Tank Farm

The cummulative capacity of the tank farm stand at 76 million litres, it can store 45 million litres of PMS, 20 million litres of AGO and 11 million litres of DPK.

What differentiates PMS tanks from others is the fact that PMS tanks are Floating Roof Tanks which ensure that there are no vapour losses and thus falling in line with our promise of being environment friendly.

The Truck Loading Farm

The terminal is equipped with a fully automatedTen (10) point gantry with all of them fully in operation. Loading operation is being monitored and controlled through the Control Room using a series of flow meters, Control Valves and Batch Controllers.

Safety devices like earth relay have been provided to dissipate any static charge if so generated during the course of loading. The TLF is surrounded by Fire Ring Network with Fire Monitors and Hydrant Points to take care of any emergency.

Emergency shutdown switches are mounted across various strategic areas to isolate the operations from emergency at any point in time.

Tanker Parking Area

Concerned about the chaotic situation occasioned by the tankers parking on the main road, the terminal has a parking lot for 250 tankers thereby nipping in the bud, traffic congestion around the terminal.

It also has a full compliment of rest house, restaurant and convenience for drivers. High level of house keeping and safety culture in our truck parks are always the trademark of our business.

Fire Fighting System

The heart of the fire fighting system is through our fire pump house which has three massive fire pumps with a capacity of 1,000 m3/hour each.

The fire engine feeds the hydrant system which runs across the White Oil Terminal, LPG Terminal, Loading gantries and Truck Parks.

The system also comprises of strategically located fire water monitors and hydrant points, tank/TLG cooling systems and DCP Foam extinguishing systems.

The terminal also facilitated with Fire Tender Vehicles & well trained Fire fighting team to take care of any eventualities.
