NIPCO Set to Deepen Gas Usage with Free Accessories
NIPCO Plc has expressed its readiness to join hands with Federal government in improving access to Liquefied Petroleum Gas [LPG] as cooking fuel to the generality of Nigerians at affordable rates. Managing Director, NIPCO, Mr Sanjay Teotia, who gave the assurance while presenting LPG accessories to public school administrators’ under the aegis of Apapa local education authority and some head teachers in Lagos said it is one of the conscious ways of encouraging use of gas as domestic cooking fuel.
The presentation of the items which included gas cylinders and burners took place at the company’s premises in Apapa also forms part of NIPCO corporate social responsibility initiatives. Mr Sanjay noted that this is not the first time the company is presenting free gas accessories to the populace citing the Auchi and Apapa community offer in previous years as part of the organization reach out to boost gas usage among the populace.
The MD also hinted that more efforts would be made in the area of skids deployment to our stations across the country to facilitate cooking gas access by the people in tandem with federal government drive to promote use of gas as domestic cooking fuel. Mr Sanjay noted that with the technical commissioning of the largest Liquefied Petroleum Gas [LPG] plant in NIPCO’s terminal Apapa the company is poised for more seamless operation in the storage and distribution of gas across the nooks and crannies of the country.
According to him, cooking gas is safe and economical to use compared with other domestic cooking fuel adding that safety has remained a cardinal principle of the organization at any point in the storage and distribution of gas at its LPG plant.
He disclosed that hundreds of skids are being mounted at its branded stations as well as its newly acquired 11plc [formerly Mobil plc] and that very soon gas users would begin to enjoy better access to the product at very competitive rates. MR Sanjay emphasized that with the punch line of the company “’think cooking gas! Think Nipco gas!! “the company would be relying on its brand uniqueness as a reference point in the downstream industry to increase our size of the LPG business.
The MD stated that issue of under dispensing or any sharp practices in the process of gas dispense would not be allowed to rear its ugly head with the creation of a unit in the retail division to take of issues in that direction.
According to him, on regular basis personnel from the unit move to our stations to ensure that consumers get value for their money either for white products or gas. One of the beneficiaries, Comrade Olayinka Emmanuel said the donation is a commendable one stressing that the company has performed wonderfully well despite its short period of existence.
Mr Olayinka who is also the Nigeria Union of Teachers Vice Chairman ,Lagos state described the NIPCO facility as being excellent with high sense of safety consciousness and great potentials tom excel in the nation’s oil and gas industry.
