Emulate NIPCO Support To Education :: LG Boss Urges Companies

The Apapa Local Government Chairman, Hon. Owolabi Elijah Adele has lauded the contributions of NIPCO Plc to education in the LG over the years describing the feat as being exemplary

The LG Boss who spoke through the Education Secretary, Apapa LGA, Mrs Fausat Olawepo at the 29th Inter House Sports of Apapa Nursery & Primary School proudly sponsored by NIPCO government had watched with delight the level of support being offered by the company through plethora of assistance to schools in the LGA.

He recalled that aside from the yearly sponsorship of Inter House Sports in two primary schools in the state namely Ijora Oloye Nursery & Primary School and Apapa Nursery & Primary School, the company had also embarked on infrastructural uplift of the schools in many ways.

Specifically on the school celebrating the sports day, Hon. Adele noted that NIPCO refurbished three classrooms and provided toilet facilities fr the school several years back and since then had been involved in one support or the order for the pupils and staff alike.

He used the occasion to call on public spirited corporate organizations to emulate NIPCO by way of giving back to society ,a key social investment platform to contribute to the development of your operating community and beyond.

In his remarks, the Head teacher of the school, Comrade Olayinka Emmanuel equally applauded the contributions of the company to education and sports to various schools in the state especially Apapa Primary School.

The Head Teacher noted that the yearly inter-house sport would have been forgotten over the years if not for the continuous support of Nipco Plc and the parents of the children stressing that this explains why the school decided to honor the company by naming one of the houses after NIPCO PLC.

He used the opportunity to remind the management of the company on the promise of donating computers to the school and Ijora Oloye Primary School to boost computer education in the schools.

Appreciating the recognition to Nipco Plc, Chief Public Relations Officer, Lawal Taofeek said we see CSR as not only avenue for business to behave ethically but also to contribute to economic development by improving the quality of life and the workforce as well as local community and society at large.

Lawal who expressed delight with the appreciation of the company’s modest support to education and sports in the organization host communities stressed that the company sees such investment as a culture and philosophy of our business.

He also restated that the company will not relent in providing adequate support that will help to boost education especially at the foundation stage which can be built upon as the child further their studies.
