NIPCO DEEPENS LPG UTILIZATION – DONATES GAS ACCESSORIES TO HOST COMMUNITY

NIPCO Plc, an integrated downstream player in the nation’s oil industry has boosted gas usage as domestic cooking fuel with the donations of gas accessories to hundreds of people in Apapa, Lagos state.

The donation targeted at women in the Apapa Local Government area of the state was undertaken by the company as part of deepening gas usage and Corporate Social Responsibility [CSR] investments in the residents especially those involved in culinary activities as source of livelihood

NIPCO Managing Director ,Suresh Kumar who spoke through the Assistant General Manager ,Corporate Affairs ,Lawal Taofeek said offer was also part of Nipco’s initiative to continuously support Federal Government’s efforts to ’fight‘ deforestation head on through easy access to accessories to encourage use of gas for domestic cooking. .

“We decided to provide these accessories as a means of taking off the cost of the items which in some cases had been a debilitating factor in the use of gas especially at the home front by some of the beneficiaries “ he noted

Commenting further on the exercise, The MD recalled that the company had made donations to women in other parts of the country as one of its cardinal corporate social responsibility initiatives.

The MD also hinted that more efforts would be made in the area of skids deployment to our stations across the country to facilitate cooking gas access by the people in tandem with federal government drive to promote use of gas as domestic cooking fuel.

Receiving the gas burners, Chairman Apapa LGA ,Hon Owolabi Adele said the donation was very apt to enable more families key into the new age of using gas as domestic cooking fuel and as well ease themselves of the pains of using kerosene or fire wood .

He commended the efforts of the company describing their feat as sowing a seed which shall multiply in large proportions on the bottom lines as well its image as a responsible corporate entity in no distant time.

A major highlight of the event was a safety lecture by the company’s LPG Operations Manager, Kamal Badmus on handling of the donated items – burners, hose , cylinder and regulator to the about 200 beneficiaries of the items.

Engr Kamal implored all beneficiaries to always be careful with gas usage and not take anything for granted in the handling of the accessories by adhering to all safety precautions.
