NIPCO's Natural Gas Division operates through Green Gas Limited (GGL), a joint venture company in which NIPCO holds a 70% equity stake and the Nigerian Gas Company (NGC), a subsidiary of NNPC, holds 30%. Established in 2007, GGL is a pioneer in the marketing and distribution of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) for vehicular and industrial use in Nigeria.
GGL operates a network of eight CNG refuelling stations in Benin City, Edo State — making Benin one of the most CNG-advanced cities in West Africa. To date, GGL has facilitated the conversion of over 10,000 vehicles to CNG, offering significant cost savings to transport operators and reducing harmful vehicular emissions across the region.
GGL's long-term vision is to expand its network beyond Benin City to other major Nigerian cities, leveraging NIPCO's national footprint and the growing availability of natural gas feedstock from the Nigerian gas pipeline network.

Green Gas Limited brings together NIPCO's commercial expertise and infrastructure with NGC's access to the national gas grid. This partnership gives GGL a unique competitive advantage: reliable gas feedstock from Nigeria's transmission pipelines, combined with NIPCO's project execution and distribution capabilities.
Beyond transportation fuel, GGL is developing piped natural gas (PNG) supply to industrial and residential customers in Benin City — a segment with significant growth potential as Nigeria's domestic gas utilisation agenda accelerates under current federal policy.
Visit nipcogas.comCNG is dispensed at GGL stations in Benin at pressures up to 200 bar. The fuel is up to 60% cheaper than petrol on a per-kilometre basis for converted vehicles. GGL stations are equipped with fast-fill dispensers suitable for private cars, taxis, buses and three-wheelers.
GGL supplies piped natural gas directly to industrial and commercial customers in Benin City. PNG supply displaces expensive diesel generators and heavy fuel oil, delivering significant cost savings and emissions reductions for manufacturers, hospitals, hotels and commercial properties.
GGL provides end-to-end vehicle conversion services at its Benin City facility. Certified CNG conversion kits are installed by qualified technicians with DPR-approved procedures. Over 10,000 vehicles have been converted to date, covering commercial transport fleets and private operators.
CNG produces significantly lower emissions of CO₂, NOₓ, SOₓ and particulate matter compared to petrol and diesel. NIPCO's investment in GGL is part of our broader commitment to environmental sustainability and support for Nigeria's energy transition agenda.
